          ACTIVITIES OF THE DAY

          THAI SUMMER FAIR 2012

This year marks the Thai Summer Fair’s 9th anniversary. The fair will be held at King’s Park, Boscombe, Bournemouth on Sunday the 5th August 2012 from 10.00 am. - 18.00 pm. The Thai Summer Fair has become a very popular event in the Bournemouth’s Summer Calendar, attracting 5-6 thousand people in previous year, with even more anticipated this year.

The Bournemouth Thai Summer Fair has now established itself as the most prestigious Thai fair in the U.K.

On the day, the opening ceremonies will commence with chants from the Buddhist monks from Buddhapadipa Temple, London. Following this, the main stage will feature a ceremony of thanks to the dignitaries in attendance, the Mayor of Bournemouth and the HE Ambassador of Thailand to the U.K., who will then address the audience.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors can witness a display of Classical Thai dancing and musical performances, Muay Thai (Thai boxing), Fruits carving, traditional Thai massage and activities for children. On offer from the fair’s various stalls will be Thai toys, crafts, clothes and luxurious hand woven Thai silk.

Throughout the day, visitors can choose from an assortment of delicacies from London and south England’s best Thai eateries. Along with the opportunity to taste the flavours of Thailand, there will be three choices of Thai beers available: Singha Beer, Chang Beer and Siam Gold Beer.

Admission fee for the fair is £4.00 for adults, £1.00 for children, and free for children under 5. The proceeds of the admission charges will go to the Bournemouth Thai Language and Culture School, one of the only Thai language schools in the south of the U.K.

We are looking forward to bringing a piece of Thailand to Bournemouth, and hope that many people will join us for this spectacular event.
